Trey Songz Exclusive Interview

The Birth Of A Nation East Coast Movie Premiere held in Norfolk, VA September 27, 2016

Being that you are an African American male, how does it impact your life to be from the same state the rebellion took place in?

It impacts me in a major way.  Especially since I'm 21 years old, this is like great for children I believe because when I was a young boy I wasn't told this story, I had to go learn it.  It's not in the curriculums in school and being from Virginia with what's going on today you want people, especially of our culture, to be as knowledgable as possible about our history.  This is something that was apart of our history that was kept away from us.  This is amazing what Nate is doing, he put a lot on the line to get it done and the movie is incredible.  It's a film that doesn't hold back on what slavery was and Im very proud of the way he did it.

Do you have any music on The Birth of a Nation music soundtrack?

I do actually, a song called STAND.  I'm very excited about the song!

Do you have any upcoming projects you are working on that we can look forward to?

Yes, I'm working on my album, it's entitled "Tremaine".  I'm actually at the very end of it, making tour decisions and things like that.
